Being one of the most magnificent aspects of Navratri , Maa Siddhidatri is the possessor of all the siddhis, which are twenty six in total. While we split the name, Siddhi refers to supernatural power and Datri refers to bestower. The name of Maa itself implies that she is the supreme being to look up to when one wants his desires to be fulfilled in the most splendid possible way. The Goddess has a very large number of devotees which includes Tantriks and Aghoris as well. In this form, Maa durga removes ignorance and provides knowledge. The Siddhi that she grants, is a realisation that she is the only mistress of ultimate perfection.

Appearance of Goddess Siddhidatri

Maa Siddhidatri is depicted as an enchanting beauty who is dressed in a scintillating red saree, and ornamented with various jewels and a crown which adds to her infinite beauty. She ensconced herself on a lotus flower and mounts on a lion. She is shown to have four hands in which she holds a Gada (Bludgeon), Chakra, Shankh (Scallop Shell) and a lotus flower. She is shown to be surrounded by Siddhas, Gandharvas, Yakshas, Asuras and Devtas, which shows that regardless of their origin, everyone bows down before the supreme entity Maa Siddhidatri is.

Legends

According to the Vedic scripture, Devi Bhagvata Purana, Mahadeva once went into a deep meditation and worshipped Maa Siddhidatri who bestowed her blessings upon him, leading to the creation of the revered form of Lord Shiva in which his half body became female with the other half remained a male, glorifying this avatar as Ardhnarishvara, which was an amalgamation of Shiva and Shakti.

Mantras for Goddess Siddhidatri

On the ninth day of Navratri, Maa Siddhidatri is worshipped and to seek her blessings and grace, the following mantra should be chanted-

सिद्ध गन्धर्व यक्षाद्यैरसुरैरमरैरपि।
सेव्यमाना सदा भूयात् सिद्धिदा सिद्धिदायिनी॥

Siddha Gandharva Yakshadyairasurairamarairapi।
Sevyamana Sada Bhuyat Siddhida Siddhidayini॥
