It replaced the last 5 years’ sponsors DLF. It is believed that it did not renew the contract due to the falling ratings of the IPL.

Since the time IPL began in the year 2008, it was accompanied a lot of controversies. Starting with the controversy of Harbhajan Singh slapping Sreesanth, it went to the last year’s spot fixing scandal. Some people are of the view that such controversies have harmed the reputation of cricket. While the others feel that such things make the IPL more interesting.
