Once, Chandrabhaga insisted her husband, Shobhan, to observe a fast on Ekadashi. Although, Shobhan was not physically fit, he opted for the Vrat to please his wife. But, unfortunately, he passed away the next morning. Although, he could not relish the results of the Vrat, Shobhan achieved a kingdom which was invisible to others.

One day, he was visited by a Brahmin who belonged to the kingdom of his wife. Then, he was told by Shobhan about the greatness of Rama Ekadashi Vrat. As the Brahmin reached Chandrabhaga’s kingdom, he narrated everything to her. After knowing about the existence of her already dead husband, Chandrabhaga got keen to revive him back to life. As Chandrabhaga was an ardent follower of Vishnu and observed the Ekadashi fast since her childhood.

Ultimately, by the virtue of all Ekadashi Vrat she had performed, her husband was finally brought back to life and his kingdom was transformed into real. Since then, the day of Rama Ekadashi got its eternal significance.

अश्वमेधसहस्राणि राजसूयशतानि च । एकादश्युपवासस्य कलां नार्हन्ति शोडशीम् ।।
